Delhi Study Group (a prominent Indian NGO) led by President Dr. Vijay Jolly organized a grand program to promote People to People Friendship between India & Africa at Constitution Club, New Delhi.
The event honored 38 African Heads of Missions in India with saffron scarves, mementos, and gifts. Chief Guest Ermindo Augusto Ferreira, Dean of African Missions in India & Mozambique High Commissioner, graced the occasion. Special Guest South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri could not attend due to fever but was represented by his son Surendra Singh Bidhuri.
Patron Vijay Mehta (Honorary Consul of Romania) & Subhash Goyal (GSA of Ethiopian Airlines) attended and addressed the gathering.
Delhi Study Group President Dr. Vijay Jolly, in his speech, highlighted that India-Africa relations have reached an all-time peak under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership. He recalled that due to PM Modi’s initiative, the African Union was granted permanent membership in the G20 Summit.
Dr. Jolly emphasized closer cooperation between India & Africa in key areas such as agriculture, culture, cyber security, education, energy, maritime security, military, trade, and technical cooperation. He pointed out that today, India is the third-largest trading partner in Africa, with trade reaching USD 103 billion in 2023.
Additionally, Dr. Jolly praised the role of the 3 million-strong Indian diaspora in Africa, acknowledging their contributions to cultural diplomacy and economic development. He concluded by stating that India & Africa share a common past, present, and future, reinforcing their strong and enduring partnership.
